Wild Ginger is a wonderful native ground cover that can help with erosion and replace nonnative Hosta's. They produce small purple blooms in the spring and will tolerate heavy shade. The foliage is beautiful and goes great with other woodland plants such as ferns and Wild Blue Phlox (Phlox divaricata) also grows well under a full canopy.
