This low maintenance perennial is easy to care for and tolerant of many soil types even rocky soils and clay. Long lasting Purple to pinkish spotted flowers sit upon fragrant foliage attracting many pollinators and hummingbirds. The scented foliage is often times used in teas. Monarda is a host plant for 11 species of moths and butterflies (NWF). It is also deer and drought tolerant once established. Use as a border, cottage garden, rain gardens or rock gardens as this plant is very versatile and less aggressive than other Monarda.
